Rhondda Valley

work in a draper's shop
. A member of
Moreia Baptist church
he began to
preach
there in
1906
and the following year enrolled at
Old College School
,
Carmarthen
. He was ord.
minister
of
Capel Rhondda
,
Pontypridd
in
1910
and he
ministered
later to churches in
Felinganol
(
1914
) and
Seion
,
Llanelli
(
1931
). He retired in
1957
. His gifts as a powerful
preacher
were clear from the start and he became one of ‘the princes’ of the Welsh pulpit. He was regularly invited to
preach at denominational meetings
, and he preached at the St. David's Day service at
City Temple

London
in
1922
, at
Central Hall
,
Liverpool
in
1923
, and at the Welsh service at the
Baptist Union of Gt. Britain
in
Cardiff

1924
. He was
president of the Pembrokeshire meeting (
