prize and graduated with honours in

bardic chairs

poetry
for
theology
. He was ordained at
Soar (B)

Pontlotyn
, in
1906
, and served ministries at
Rhos

Mountain Ash

1908-1915

Gomer chapel

Swansea
,
1915-48
. He retired in
1948
. His theological works include two volumes on eschatology —

, the subject of his
M.A.
thesis. His commentary on the
Book of Revelations
appeared in
1944
and he published a volume of well-polished sermons entitled
A'r Drws yn Gaead

. He contributed much to periodicals and to
Y Geiriadur Beiblaidd
. His two useful works on the
Welsh
language,
Llyfr gloywi Cymraeg

, and
Camre'r Gymraeg

, became popular.
He was a member of the
National
Eisteddfod
council
, the
Gorsedd
of Bards
, the
B.B.C.'s religious advisory committee
, and the
Swansea public library committee
. For a considerable period he was
principal
of the
Ilston preparatory school
, and was
president
of the
Welsh Baptist Union
for
1946-47
. He
edited the hymns
for
Llawlyfr Moliant Newydd
, and was
editor
of
Seren Cymru
from
1936
until his death on
21 Feb. 1950
.
