Born in 1887 at Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, and educated at schools in the town. He began his journalistic work with the Montgomeryshire County Times. In 1916 he moved to Port Talbot as a representative of the Cambrian Daily Leader, and later joined the staff of the Western Mail. He was also a reporter for other papers in south Wales. He won the crown at Neath national eisteddfod in 1918 for his pryddest ' Mynachlog Nedd '. His wife, Margaret, was from Machynlleth and they had two sons. He suffered a grievous illness during his last years and died at Gendros, Swansea, 12 March 1954 aged 67.
