DAFYDD (or DAVIES), MAURICE (fl. 1789), hymn-writer; the very well-known Welsh hymn beginning ‘Am graig i adeiladu …’ comes from a booklet of his published in 1789. He would seem to have been a member of the Congregational church at Bala. See the discussion in J. Thickens, Emynau a'u Hawduriaid, 138-9.
