WALTER, ROWLAND (Ionoron Glan Dwyryd ; 1819-1884), quarryman and poet; b. at Cefnfaes, Congl-y-wal, Blaenau Ffestiniog, of parents who had come to the district from Margam, Glam. He was about 19 when englynion by him appeared in Y Gwladgarwr. In 1852 he published Lloffyn y Gweithiwr, sef Awdlau a Chaneuon ar Wahanol Destynau. In the same year (or the next?) he emigrated to the U.S.A., to work as a quarryman at Hydeville, Vermont. He continued to write verse and much work by him appeared in Y Cenhadwr Americanaidd and Y Drych. In 1872 was published at Utica, Caniadau Ionoron. He d. March 1884 at Fairhaven, Vermont. [According to Blackwell he was aged 64].
