. A
pupil-teacher
at the local day school, he also received instruction in
organ playing
from
Dr.
Roland
Rogers
,
Bangor
. In
1878
he was appointed
organist
of
S. Mark's church
,
Wrexham
. He was a talented
piano accompanist
and officiated as such in national eisteddfodau held at
Liverpool
and
Wrexham
. For six years he
conducted
the
Wrexham choral society
which performed several works by the great composers. His part-song, ‘
Y Gwynt
,’ was a test piece for male voice choirs at the
Bangor national eisteddfod
,
1891
; solos by him which gained popularity were ‘
Y Marchog
’ and ‘
Iesu, cyfaill f'enaid cu
.’ He d.
21 Aug. 1890
, and was buried at
Glanogwen burial ground
,
Bethesda
.
