Songs of Two Worlds
, and a second and third series under the same title in

. Other volumes of verse followed till the end of his life, of which
The Epic of Hades

, is the best known and most ambitious. His verse is wholesome, fluent, but uninspired. His most lasting work was that done for higher education in
Wales
. In
1878
he became
joint honorary secretary
to the
University College of Wales

Aberystwyth
; he was
joint treasurer

vice-president
from
1896
