Born at Rhos-maen, Llandeilo Fawr, 1823, son of David Morgan. He studied medicine at the London Hospital and S. Andrews University. Entering the Royal Navy in 1846 he became staff surgeon in 1854. During 1847-9 he served on the west coast of Africa, he went through the Crimean War, 1850-6, and was also with the Chinese land forces, 1857-61. He was medical officer for H.M.S. Euryalus during 1862-5, and Inspector-general at Plymouth from 1878-80. In 1880-2 he was at Haslar, Hantshire. He was appointed physician to queen Victoria. He died 3 December 1892 at Rhos-maen, Llandeilo.
