John Lewis was the author of Brief Observations on the History of Modern Enthusiasm, 1759. He translated into Welsh J. Crooksworth's Principles of Truth, under the title Egwyddorion o'r Gwirionedd (Carmarthen 1773). He exercised considerable influence upon the Welsh Quakers of his day in Pembrokeshire.
