. When he was 10 years of age he went to
work in the quarry
, leaving it at the age of 17 to go to
Bron-y-foel school
. It is not definitely known whether he went to
Eben Fardd
's school at
Clynnog
, but he certainly went to the
Caernarvon Training College
to qualify as a
teacher
in the
Church schools
. He was a
schoolmaster
at
Clynnog
, where
Eben Fardd
was his neighbour. In
1855
he was sent to take charge of a school at
Llanfachreth, Mer.
, where he came into contact with
Ab Ithel
(q.v.)
, who was then at
Llan-ym-mawddwy
; they co-operated in
arranging eisteddfodau
in which
Glasynys
competed. He then joined the
Rev.
William
Hughes
at
Beddgelert
and probably went on to a college in
Birmingham
. He was ordained
deacon
2 Dec. 1860
by the
bishop of Bangor
. He became
curate
of
Llangristiolus
,
Anglesey
, was transferred to
Llanfaethlu
in
1863
, and to
Pontlotyn, Mon.
, in the same capacity in
1866
. There his stay was short, and he moved to
Newport, Mon.
, as
joint editor
, with
Islwyn
(q.v.)
, of the newspaper
Y Glorian
. He then went to
Portmadoc
and thence to
Towyn, Mer.
He d.
4 April 1870
and was buried in
Llandwrog
churchyard. He was the
