He entered Abergavenny Academy in April, 1810, and held the pastorates of Penuel, near Caerleon (together with the office of home missionary for Monmouthshire) from 1813 until January 1816 and of Bethany English church, Cardiff, from that date until his death, 17 May 1855. He left a widow and four children. He kept a school during both his pastorates, but he is best remembered for his literary and historical writings. An unsigned series of essays by him on the history of the Christian Church appeared in Y Bedyddiwr, 1852. He translated into Welsh a large portion of Dr. Gill's Commentary on the New Testament, and at the request of the South-Eastern Baptist Association, made in 1829, he published a history of the Welsh Baptist Association under the title Hanes Cymmanfa y Bedyddwyr, 1831; 2nd ed. 1889.
