, and after some resistance accepted the overlordship of the
West-Saxon monarchy

during an unsuccessful revolt

, his sons were expelled, and authority passed to his cousin,
Hywel Dda
(q.v.)
. Though two of these sons,
Iago
and
Ieuaf
(qq.v.)
were in time restored, his blood was transmitted to the principal dynasty of medieval
Gwynedd
through a younger son,
Meurig
(q.v.)
