EDWARDS, THOMAS (1649-1700), of Rhual , Flints. , Puritan controversialist; b. at Rhual 9 Oct. 1649, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Edwards. On 2 Aug. 1672 he m. Jane, fifth daughter of Robert Davies, Gwysaney (see Davies-Cooke); they had no issue. Thomas Edwards was a member of the Dissenting church at Wrexham, and in the controversy about the views of Daniel Williams (q.v.) he supported the Independents and High Calvinism. His chief contribution to the controversy was the book, The Paraselene dismantled of her Cloud or Baxterianism Barefac'd (London, 1699). He accepted believers’ baptism on 4 Sept. 1695 — N.L.W. (Rhual MS. 80). He d. 21 Dec. 1700.
