EDWARDS , EBENEZER ( 1824 - 1901 ), Baptist minister in Wales and the U.S.A. ;

b. at Llangollen . He went to the Baptist College , Haverfordwest , and to a similar institution in the U.S.A. after emigrating there as a relatively young man. He was ordained in 1851 as minister of a Baptist church at Pittstown , Pennsylvania ; he was later at Cincinatti . He returned to Wales in 1858 and ministered to churches at Bryn-mawr and Llanelly , but again moved to the U.S.A. in 1868 , and spent the greater part of his remaining years in Pennsylvania . Of his writings the most important is Welshmen as Factors in the Development of the Republic … Successful Prize Essay … International Eisteddfod … Chicago 1893 ( Utica, N.Y. , 1899 ). He d. early in 1901 .
