Welsh Congregational church
at
Waterville
, which he held for seventeen years; he was also for seven years
pastor
of the
English Congregational churches
of
Oriskany Falls
and
Deansboro
. In
1882
he realized an early ambition — he bought
Y Cenhadwr
, the
Welsh Congregational
monthly, and moved to
Remsen
, where the periodical was then published, and became
pastor
of
Peniel
and
Bethel
churches, of which
Morris
Roberts
had had charge. He resigned
Peniel
after two years and became
pastor
of
Steuben
; in
1898
he returned to
Waterville
, which also became the publishing town of
Y Cenhadwr
until it ceased publication in
1901
.
Davies
had travelled extensively, visiting many Welsh settlements in the
U.S.A.
; in
1866
he accompanied
Morris
Roberts
on a visit to
Wales
. He was a leading champion of Prohibition in the
U.S.A
. Besides scores of articles in periodicals, he published
