He had a successful printing and bookseller's business in Buckley and took a great interest in the local history and antiquities of his native town and district. He contributed articles on these subjects to The Cheshire Sheaf and The Chester Chronicle and was the author of Buckley and District, 1923. He died a few weeks before the publication of his book [preface dated 20 September ].
